FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Durham, NC - (Wednesday, January 20, 2021) -Durham County Sheriff Clarence F. Birkhead reports that a resident at the Durham County Detention Center has died.

On Tuesday, January 19, 2021, 34-year-old Brittany Kittrell was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment where she later died. The official cause of death is still being determined and will be released by the Medical Examiner.

Ms. Kittrell was booked into the Durham County Detention Facility on Friday, January 15, 2021, on charges of Breaking and Entering to terrorize or injure, Robbery with a dangerous weapon, Common law-false imprisonment, and Felony possession of cocaine and was held on a $5000 secured bond.
