DURHAM, NC – (November 7, 2025) Just before 4:30 p.m., deputies from the Durham County Sheriff’s Office were called to the 5100 block of Barbee Chapel Rd for a reported assault.

Investigators learned the victim and a person known to them had been involved in a verbal dispute that escalated into a physical confrontation, resulting in the victim being cut multiple times. EMS transported the victim to a local hospital with injuries considered non-life-threatening.

The suspect, who had fled the scene, was later located and taken into custody. The suspect is identified as Travis Rigsby, 45, of Durham.

Rigsby has been charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury and was served with an outstanding warrant. He is currently being held at the Durham County Detention Center without bond.
