DURHAM, NC (Monday, September 22, 2025) – A dog was shot during an armed robbery on Sunday evening, September 21, 2025. One suspect has been arrested and charged in the case.
At approximately 11:46 p.m., two masked individuals approached two men who were on their porch on the 2500 block of E. Club Boulevard. One of the suspects, who was armed with a handgun, demanded a cell phone. After the phone was handed over, a dog belonging to one of the victims charged at the suspects and bit one of them on the leg. The armed suspect then shot the dog before both suspects fled on foot.
A short time later, two people matching the suspects' description were spotted outside the Walmart on Glenn School Road. When deputies approached, one of the individuals attempted to flee but was apprehended after a short foot pursuit. The juvenile suspect was found to have a leg wound consistent with a dog bite. He was treated on the scene by EMS and released to a parent. During questioning, the second male suspect was found to be in possession of a firearm. He is identified as Isiah Holeman, 18, of Durham,
Holeman was arrested and charged with the following:
Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon
Felony Larceny
Possession of Stolen Goods
Carrying a Concealed Gun
Going Armed to the Terror of the People
Assault by Pointing a Gun
Cruelty to Animals
Holeman was taken to the Durham County Detention Center, where a magistrate denied him bond. He remains in custody. The injured dog survived and was treated by a veterinarian. Its current condition is unknown. This investigation is continuing.
