Suspect Who Assumed Sibling's Identity During Arrest; Now Charged with Identity Theft

DURHAM, NC - (Tuesday, September 9, 2025)Enrico Jerome Farrington Jr., 34, of Durham, now faces charges of Identity Theft and Resist, Delay, Obstruct after allegedly providing his sibling's information during an arrest last week.

Farrington was initially arrested for an armed carjacking on the evening of Wednesday, September 3, 2025. The identity deception came to light when a family member saw a previous news release and alerted the Sheriff's Office.

DCSO investigators, in collaboration with the Durham County District Attorney's Office, worked together to correct the information and file the additional warrants. Farrington (see mugshot below) was served with the new charges as well as multiple warrants for failure to appear on previous arrests. He remains in the Durham County Detention Facility under a $235,000 secured bond.

Quick Action by Deputies Nets Arrest of Carjacking Suspect
The swift response of Durham County Sheriff's Office deputies to a carjacking call on Wednesday, September 3, led to the arrest of a man accused of taking a vehicle at knifepoint.

Just before 10:30 P.M., deputies from the Durham County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division were dispatched to a business parking lot on New Millennium Way for the report of an armed carjacking. The victim told deputies they had offered the suspect a ride when the suspect pulled a knife and demanded the victim exit the vehicle. The suspect then fled in the victim's Infiniti SUV.

Deputies located the stolen vehicle a short time later on Drew Street. Witnesses at the location had observed the suspect run into a nearby home, where he was taken into custody without further incident.

Enrico Jerome Farrington Jr. of Durham was charged with the following offenses:

  • Felony Possession of Cocaine
  • Larceny of a Motor Vehicle
  • Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon
  • Misdemeanor Larceny
  • Resisting a Public Officer

Farrington is currently being held at the Durham County Detention Facility without bond.
