Fingerprints by Appointment Only
The Records unit is required to follow strict federal guidelines when performing necessary procedures for fingerprinting. During the fingerprint process you will be asked to schedule an appointment. Please note, you will be asked to pay before scheduling your appointment.
Appointments for fingerprints are processed on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Appointments can be made online or in person at our self-check-in kiosk.

Please at least 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment. This allows you the opportunity to park, check in, and complete any other necessary paperwork. The process time takes 15 - 20 minutes to complete.
NOTE: If you arrive 10 minutes late for your appointment you will be asked to reschedule. If you are unable to keep your appointment, please log into the Order Tracker to reschedule.
Photo ID Required
At the time of appointment, please provide a valid driver's license or DMV ID with your current address.
If you are obtaining fingerprints that require electronic submissions to the SBI make sure you receive the Electronic Submission form from the requested agency. If you do not have the required forms, we cannot fingerprint you.
If you are obtaining thumbprint only, no appointment is necessary. Please visit our office on the first floor of the Durham County courthouse located at 510 South Dillard Street in Durham to be processed. When applying in person we can usually accommodate most walk-ins during fingerprint service hours. However, during peak business hours, an appointment may not be available on the same day of service
